Co-Founder/TreasurerPamela Carter is one of the Founders and Executive Director of Homebase and Beyond Inc., bringing to the mission over 20 years of experience as the owner and operator of No Place Like Home of Cols, a learning center dedicated to serving disadvantaged families. A mother of five blessings and a grandmother, Pamela is married to David Carter for over 30 years, and together they envisioned this essential work, which is rooted in her deep personal history and professional commitment to family stability.
Pamela's expertise is grounded in both professional experience and education. She holds an Associate Degree in Business Management from Columbus State Community College and a CDA (Child Development Associate credential) from the Council for Professional Recognition. This academic foundation, coupled with two decades of building organizational systems, provides the necessary knowledge and skill to fulfill the role of Treasurer on the Board, ensuring Homebase and Beyond Inc.'s financial stability. She is also currently studying to obtain her real estate license, adding a crucial skill set that will help secure a permanent, perfectly fitted home for the organization’s vision and growth.
While Pamela utilizes her credentials for governance, she understands that in an emergency, people seek relief, not credentials. Her most profound qualifications come from a deep personal history. Having grown up in a single-parent home, Pamela witnessed firsthand the struggle to make ends meet and saw her mother "break and get back up." Pamela is a product of the latchkey generation, carrying that key around her neck to open and immediately lock the door to an empty home. More profoundly, she experienced the terror of domestic abuse as a child, hiding from her mother’s abuser in the very toy trunk she still owns today.
This powerful history fuels Pamela’s driving vision to establish Homebase and Beyond Inc. as a crucial safety hub for single-parent families. The organization focuses on providing relevant and rapid support during crises, driven by the commitment that no family has to face domestic violence, food insecurity, homelessness, human trafficking, or any other crisis that single parents struggle with. For Pamela, this is the essential work of ensuring a safety hub is available for these families today and for the future.
